York University, in partnership with the Community Music Schools of Toronto, presents an Improvisation and Creative Music Making Workshop for woodwind, brass, and percussion students. Elementary and secondary level students get a chance to play along musicians from the York University Wind Symphony, meet professional composers Kevin Day and Cait Nishimura, and participate in the collaborative composition of a piece of music. There is no registration fee and reimbursement for transportation or parking is available upon request.
This event is organized by co-researchers Pratik Gandhi and Bill Thomas, and is funded by a grant from the Helen Carswell Chair in Community Engaged Research in the Arts.
